As I sit in my backyard this morning, I can hear God’s loving voice as the breeze blow through the trees so tenderly. My morning devotions consisted of no words. All I could do is groan. With my head buried in my chest, tears begin to fall down my face. I prayed for our nation and all families. I then heard myself utter this prayer. “Lord have mercy on us”. This was my complete prayer. I told the Lord to forgive me, I was speechless thereafter. Honestly I just wanted to hear from God. I was filled with anxiety after looking at the media day after day. God told me to turn off the television because death is all that is being televised. He said you have been given a mandate now walk in what has been given to you to do. Remember, I am God and I am in complete control. Almost like someone whispering in my ear, I heard these words, “who do you say I am”? It was almost like God was not expecting me to answer, but He was reminding me what I already knew, Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the true and Living God.
I needed God and He answered by prayer. I needed to feel the warmth of His love, and I did. I needed His peace to surround me, and His peace I received. I felt like I was carrying a load. My fears and the uncertainty about our future was overwhelming. All I could do was groan, but my groaning turned into rejoicing and praising God. He spoke to me with love and I listened.
I then heard “Fear Not”!
I hear your groaning”. I hear the groaning of many. Birth pain is not comfortable. But in order for me to usher in my glory and for this nation to receive their hearts desire, pain is necessary. Something beautiful will come out of these dark days. What is happening in this world did not come as a surprise to me. I need you to hold on to your faith and trust in me. This will come to pass. Trust me in spite of what you hear. Trust me in spite of what you see. Trust me in spite of what you may have loss. I AM doing a new thing! I would like to encourage you today. Stand with me children of GOD. Let our truth today and everyday be our declaration as we read Psalm 23.
The LORD is my Shepherd [ to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want. He let’s me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me. You prepare a a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the LORD.
As I read Psalm 23, I find myself focusing on the fourth verse.
Though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil. Why? Because His rod and shaff shall comfort us.
We has a nation find ourselves in a dark valley, but we must remember GOD is our shepherd. He promises to guide us through this dark valley. We must trust GOD’s use of His rod and staff. Therefore, as we find ourselves in the midst of much uncertainty and confusion remember GOD promised to take care of us. Cry out to God, He is listening. Your cry may be of no words, it may be groaning with tears falling down your face, or it may be words hidden in within your heart that only God understands. God is yearning to hear from each of us during these troubled times in our nation and globally. Let Him hear your hearts’s cry.
Psalm 23:4 is really how we should look at the dark times in our lives.
What is my truth today, God will forever be my Jehovah-Shammah,which means Jehovah is there. He is there! He will never leave or forsake you. Hold on to your faith in these dark times and remember God is the Light of this world. We do not know what tomorrow will bring, but we no who holds our tomorrow. Your groans are not a sign of hopelessness, but it is sign that God is the only one we need to help us get through this storm.
As it is written in Romans 8:17, “As his children, we will receive all that he has for us. We will share what Christ receives. But we must share in his sufferings if we want to share in his glory.”
Father God, we your children come before your Throne of Grace declaring your majesty and your power. We thank you for loving us and for your faithfulness towards us. We may not understand your way Father, but we trust you. Strengthen our inner man. Holy spirit help us to stay on the straight and narrow path. We are your sheep and you know us far better that we know ourselves. Under your wings Father we are hidden. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed. God Almighty you are more than enough. In Jesus Name I pray.
