As my eyes open about 5:30 am on Monday morning, I started my morning thanking God for His grace and mercy and for allowing me to be a part of this new day. I ask God to order my footsteps as I prepare for the day ahead. As usual, I begin my morning routine of preparing myself for work. I turned on the television looking for my favorite news broadcast “New Day” on CNN.
I believe with all my heart that God uses the delivery of the morning news to give me my prayer assignment for the day. But as I tuned in, I heard the word lies. Donald Trump was accusing Hillary Clinton of telling lies. Hillary Clinton trying to convince the American people Donald Trump’s remarks concerning the Muslim people are being used by the Islamic Militant group ISIS.
As I listened attentively, I begin to wonder what God thought about us as a nation. Do we still believe in the words “In God We Trust”? Have we disappointed God? Have we become so worldly and materialistic that we have forgotten about truth and integrity? Have we forgotten about God Almighty that created the heavens and the earth? Are we really looking to man to create peace in the world? Do we believe that the candidates for presidency can do what they are claiming they can do? And if we believe their words, at what cost? What will we have to give up to receive their promises of security and financial stability? God knows the heart of the American people. Nothing is unknown to Him. He knows the next elected president of the United States. He alone knows the heart of each candidate.
We as a nation have lost our direction. God’s Holy Word tell us: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding, but in all ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct our path. He alone can give us direction. Have you ask God for direction? The fleshy part of us may believe we know who or what is best, but we have no idea, God sees the hidden agendas. Lies are told, truth can be hidden, and the heart of man can be deceitful but God’s Word will forever stand.
As I begin to curl my hair, I could not stop from thinking about how many times God has protected me. It is so easy for us to forget. The times when I proclaimed with all my heart that I cannot walk into this new day without Him. It is no way we can make it without being connected to God our source, our anchor. God is my hope. God is the very air I breath. I could hear God’s word loud and clear. “TRUST IN NO MAN.” I have instructed you in my word, do not put your trust in man. Why? Because man will disappoint you. I begin to think of the many times I have trusted man to do what was right and found myself disappointed or the number of times I have disappointed someone in my life. I refuse to put my trust in man. I refuse to believe that any man or woman can fix the problems of this great nation without God. Man intentions may be well and good, but human beings are fickle. We love you one minute and hate the next.
The Prophet Jeremiah tells us in God’s Holy Word the following:
Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. He is like a shrub in the desert and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. Jeremiah 17: 5-6
Do you want to be cursed? According to God’s word, curse we are if we put our trust in man and make flesh our strength. Continuing on, we who put our trust in man is like a shrub in the desert and we shall not see any good come. We will dwell in parched places. A place without water. Barren, unfruitful and lacking anything good.
Darkness has indeed covered our earth. But God has not forsaken us!
For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you, and His glory will appear upon you. Isaiah 60:2
No matter how dark the days may become, keep Romans 8:38 close to your heart. Let it be your declaration.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, or angels, nor principalities, nor things present, or things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Have you made up your mind that you do not want to live in a barren state. Declare with your own voice that you will not rely on man to fulfill the desires of your heart. I will look to the Lord Almighty. Remember God is light and in Him is no darkness.
Let your light shine in the darkness, for the darkness will not overcome it. Be determined to walk in the truth of God’s word. Man will fail us every time, but God’s word will stand for all eternity.
We, as nation are looking for peace in this world, but I know we will never find peace in man. I refuse to be deceived. I refuse to put my faith and trust in a human being. I shall believe in the Lord God Almighty. He is the only one that can turn this nation around. Children of the Almighty God, stand up! Stand up in prayer! Be a watchman on the wall for God!
Have you ever heard of the term watchstanding or watchkeeping? According to Wikipedia it is a term that officers in the military know very well. Below is definition of the terms from Wikipedia.
Watchstanding, or watchkeeping, in nautical terms concerns the division of qualified personnel to operate a ship continuously. On a typical sea-faring vessel, whether it is a naval or merchant ship, personnel keep watch on the bridge and over the running machinery. The generic bridge watchstanders are a lookout and an officer or mate who is responsible for the safe navigation of the ship. Safe navigation means keeping the vessel on course and away from dangers as well as collision avoidance from other shipping. An engineering specialist ensures that running machinery continues to operate within tolerances and depending on the vessel, this can also be accomplished from the bridge. A secondary function of watchkeeping is to respond to emergencies, be it on own ship or involving other ships.
What am I trying to say? Just as it takes each officer or mate to operate a ship successfully and keep it from dangers, it will take all of God’s children to be watchful in our families, communities and the nation. Pray to God for everything. God is saying to us in His word to trust in no man! Trust in Him Only! Only God can heal our nation.
2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
God has left us with direction. Take our marching papers and begin to change the world. It will all start on our knees. God has made us a promise. We must humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face, turn from our wicked ways, and God has promise us that he will hear from heaven and will forgive us and heal our land. No president, no nation, and no man can do this for us. It lays in the hand of all God’s children through the power of prayer and humble submission. Be persuaded child of God that God is the key to this nation’s restoration.
In closing, my family unlike many families in the world have seen sickness and disease take over the bodies of love ones. But together we are persuaded to place our faith in God Almighty. As a family we have been in a barren state , we have been there when a love one has departed from us. We have witness a family member given a bad report. We have found ourselves in places of dread and worry, but through it all, God has remain faithful to us. Our light shines even brighter through our adversities because we know that the hand of the Lord is upon us. Your Father, Our Father will never forsake His children.
I’m persuaded! Are you persuaded??
